Cody Alan Shocks Runaway June with Carrie Underwood News

In November 2016, trio Runaway June caught the attention of Carrie Underwood when they performed “Dirty Laundry” during the CMA Awards. The all-female trio made quite the impression and have been crying happy tears over their invitation to join the “Cry Pretty” singer for her upcoming ‘Cry Pretty Tour 360’ which kicks off in 2019.

Jennifer Wayne, Naomi Cooke and Hannah Mulholland, recently joined Cody Alan to talk about the cry worthy news. In true Cody Alan fashion, he dropped some knowledge that even Runaway June hadn’t been able to confirm.

“She told me the list was huge for the potential opening acts for 2019. She had to really narrow it down with the list that came in and she right away knew that she wanted you guys,” said Alan. Cooke was flabbergasted, “Wait! So did she pick us? We are like AHHH!”

"It’s crazy," says Wayne. “We knew we were in the running, but we didn’t want to get too excited.” says Cooke.

Runaway June and Maddie & Tae were indeed handpicked by Underwood for her 2019 tour.

So what kind of tour mate can we expect Carrie Underwood to be? We think we have a pretty good idea, but listen below to what Runaway June shared about their experience so far.

Runaway June, known for their current single, “Buy My Own Drinks” will release their self-titled EP on Sept. 7 and if that’s not enough hype, they have included a fan favorite cover of Dwight Yoakam’s “Fast As You”. Want to celebrate their EP release? Catch them on tour Sept. 7 in Wilson, AK or Sept 8th in Paducah, KY.
