A 15-year-old boy in Russia who was addicted to video games took his own life immediately after losing a game. Fox News reports that Pavel Mateev went outside, grabbed a chainsaw, and then used it to cut off his own head.
The game that Mateev was playing is unknown, but an unidentified female said that the teenager "spent hours at his computer" and that his "nerves gave in after a game," according to the Daily Mail. Local police in the small village of Mogochino are investigating the incident and are trying to determine exactly why the boy decided to take his own life in such a gruesome manner.
According to The Sun, there are many "death groups" in Russia where people "allegedly incite children and teenagers to take their own lives whilst playing online games." It is unclear whether Mateev was in contact with anybody from one of those groups before he killed himself.
