Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross are branding themselves as a couple in a way they've never done before: on E! reality television. Alongside their daughter, the famed parents are set to invite America into their lives with their upcoming reality series, Ashlee+Evan, which premieres Sunday at 10 PM ET. But for the lovebirds, this new venture isn't just a showy means for their romance. It's their debut as a musical duo.
"I think what has been cool about what we have been doing is we have been creating together," Evan explained of their foray into music as a collective. "It is all things we have been actually really living and dealing with and going through as a couple, as families, as mother, as father all those kinds of things. . .We got to record a lot of the stuff on analog and tapes and it was really exciting."
"I Do," the pair's first single, drops just days before the premiere of the E! series on Friday and if you like what you hear, you'll be happy to know that they plan on releasing more material sooner rather than later. "The idea is that each episode you get to go on a journey with us and then you get a record in the process of what that is," Evan explained. In addition to an album, Ashlee and Ross are also planning to hit the road together in the fall and, yes, the venture will also be a collective family affair with their three-year-old daughter Jagger Snow Ross.

While Ashlee+Evan was filmed over the course of six months, the former pop star said the show was something she was eager to do. "I'm not mad that we don't have them right now actually, but I am excited to share our lives and our world," she admitted. Ashlee+Evan marks the star's return to reality television following her MTV series, The Ashley Simpson Show, which aired from 2004 - 2005.
When asked about her early career origins in pop/rock, Ashlee offered up a nervous giggle, but said she'd make a comeback to the pop/rock world one day. "I feel like I've learned a lot about myself and I've taken quite a long break, like the longest break ever. But it feels good to come back now and be with my husband and do something that I just enjoy doing. We'll get back to that rock side I'll do a pop/rock album after this," she confessed, as Evan added, "Yeah, she's got that in her. She's got to do that."
