Meghan Markle Had An MI5 Agent With Her Every Day On 'Suits' Set

Before Meghan Markle was the Duchess of Sussex, she played Rachel Zane on the long-running legal drama Suits. When news first broke that the actress was dating Prince Harry, a number precautions were taken to ensure Meghan's safety while she was filming. Not least of which was the MI5 agent her future husband sent over from England for her protection. That's right, Meghan had an MI5 agent with her everyday on the Suits set, which is pretty bada***, TBH.

During an interview with Extra, Meghan's Suits co-star - and on-screen father - Wendell Pierce dropped this nugget of information. "I actually didn’t think it was real, then all of a sudden I turn round and there is a guy from MI5 on set every day," he revealed. "The one thing that was clear [was that] she was extremely happy. She had a glow. I knew she was in love. With the whirlwind of publicity and the world of being a royal now, the one thing that’s constant is the fact that I know she loves him."

(Quick side bar: how sweet are Wendell's comments about Meghan and Harry's relationship? Not that it wasn't already obvious how much the Duchess loves Prince Harry. I mean, who could forget that gaze from their wedding back in May? Meghan was practically the human equivalent of the heart eye emoji.)

It makes sense that Prince Harry would taken Meghan's security seriously when they were apart. The frenzy that surrounded her in the weeks following the news that they were dating must have been completely overwhelming. In an unprecedented move, Harry even released a scathing statement to the media via Kensington Palace about his relationship with Meghan:

Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his.

A source spoke told Us Weekly that Meghan's name was even removed from call sheet on the set of Suits, as well, as a safety precaution. “It inarguably boils down to security issues,” the source said. “Information was leaking out of Suits like crazy. As soon as it came out that they were dating, everyone was warned to stop talking or they would be fired.”

Meghan left her role on Suits after filming on the seventh season wrapped to fulfill her role as the Duchess of Sussex.
