Blake Shelton recently posted about his love for the ‘Texas Horned Lizard’ and now it appears that he has taken his love of creatures a step further by adding Directory and Wildlife Conservationist to his title. The Voice co-star has been appointed as a founding member to the newly formed Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation supporting the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

Shelton was named a founding board director for the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation on Tuesday, September 4th says Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation spokesman Micah Holmes.

The mission of the newly formed board will be to raise funds and awareness in support of the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The ODWC is currently funded solely on revenue from hunting and fishing licenses, grant funds and donations.

Shelton has a very specific vision for the upcoming season.

"When I was 10, my dad took me out into the woods deer hunting with him and it changed my life forever. Healthy fish and wildlife, and the opportunities to get outdoors, make Oklahoma a special place to live," Says Shelton.

Special projects that the state can expect will include stream rehabilitation, public land acquisition, wetland development, big game herd health studies, upland game bird habitat restoration and gun range development and renovation. Having Blake Shelton represented on this board will help the foundations mission in boosting the state's wildlife conservation efforts.

Should Blake’s environmental knowledge or outdoorsman aptitude ever be questioned, we found some documented video footage that supports his recent title addition.
