15 Celebs Who Were Born To Teen Parents

Life as a teen mom isn’t easy — just watch the “Teen Mom” franchise. While many condemn it for ~glorifying~ teen pregnancy, it actually doesn’t — no matter how much money the girls make from the show, their various baby daddies are in their life forever, and co-parenting is never easy.

Below are 15 celebs who were born to teen parents, parents who beat the odds and gave their children the best lives they could. In fact, some of our favorite artists were born to teen parents: Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Louis Tomlinson, Jared Leto, Eminem, Dr. Dre… and many more.

1. Justin Bieber

His mother, Pattie Mallette, had him at 17. Her mother and step-father helped her raise him, and Bieber’s father was still in his life.

2. Selena Gomez

Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefey, was 16 when she had her. Her parents got married, but divorced when she was five years old. Her mother moved the two of them from Grand Prairie, Texas to Los Angeles, CA where she raised her.

3. Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre’s mom had him when she was 16. She was in a musical group called Four Aces that she left shortly after giving birth. His parents married, but separated a few years later.

4. Eric Clapton

Eric’s dad was a Canadian soldier who was stationed in England during World War II. He met Eric’s mother who had him at 16, but his father had already returned to Canada to return to his wife. Eric’s grandparents ended up raising him.

5. Lil Wayne

Jacinda Carter had Lil Wayne at 19. His father left when he was born and Jacinda raised him on her own.

6. Barack Obama

Obama’s mother was 19 when she had him. She was married to his father, Barack Obama Sr, at the time but his father was distant and they divorced a few years later.

7. Oprah Winfrey

Vernita Lee had Oprah when she was 18 and sent her to live with her grandmother until she was 6.

8. Jared Leto

Jared’s mom, Constance Leto, dropped out of school when she was 19 to have Jared. His father walked out on them soon after Jared was born

9. Eminem

Eminem’s mother had him at 17. She married his dad at 15, but he left them when Eminem was 18 months old.

10. Jamie Foxx

Jamie’s parents were really young when they had him and ended up giving him up to his maternal grandparents when he was 7 months old. 

11. Jack Nicholson

His mother gave birth to him when she was 16. However, her mother raised him as his soon and he went most of his life up, until after both of their deaths, believing his mother was his sister.

12. 50 Cent

50 Cent’s mother was 15 when she had him. She raised him as a single mother, but was sadly murdered when he was 8 years old.

13. Louis Tomlinson

Louis’ mother, Johannah Deakin, had him when she was 19. She passed away back in 2016. 

14. Nick Cannon

Nick’s mom was 17 when she had him and separated early from his father, so he was raised mostly by his paternal grandparents while she pursued her education. 

15. Gretchen Wilson

Her mother was just 16 when she had her and raised her alone in a trailer park.
