Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Shared More Royal PDA Today

It was a special day at Kensington Palace for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Thursday (Sept. 20). Not only was Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, in town for a visit, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted the women of Hubb Community Kitchen to cook dishes from Together: Our Community Cookbook. Meghan wrote the forward of the book, which supports the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, as one of her first projects as a member of the royal family.
The event seemed truly wonderful. Everybody-including the royals-were all smiles as they cooked on the grounds of Kensington Palace. While getting ready for a group photo with all their guests, Prince Harry and Meghan shared a sweet moment together. A gust of wind blew Meghan's silky locks up in the air, but her hubby was quick to save the day. And the picture! Prince Harry was caught smoothing down his wife's hair and then lovingly resting his chin on her shoulder. The video is super cute.
The sweet moment is not unusual for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, though it'd be surprising to see other royal couples show as much affection as these two. Myka Meir, founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette and royal expert, explained to PEOPLE “While Prince Harry and Meghan holding hands is atypical for royal engagements, it is a seemingly welcomed gesture to show unity and celebration of their engagement period. There is no protocol that says they can not show affection on official engagements, and this gesture makes them relatable and lovable to the public.” She also said that their PDA is "a refreshingly modern approach to their new role both as a couple and as representatives of the royal family.”
Another interesting aspect of this royal engagement was the presence of Meghan's mother. Though Kate Middleton has been a part of the royal family since 2011, her mother, Carole Middleton, has remained out of the spotlight. Similar to PDA at official royal events, there is no hard and fast rule about bringing relatives along. It looks like this is just one more way Meghan is shaking things up as a member of the royal family.
