Charles Hodges, one half of the pop rock band Chas & Dave, has passed away at age 74.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our very own Chas Hodges," read the statement released on the group's Twitter account this Saturday (September 22). "Despite receiving successful treatment for oesophageal cancer recently, Chas suffered organ failure and passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of this morning."
The "London Girls" artist had been living with oesophageal cancer since he was diagnosed in February 2017, during which time Hodges was anticipated to "back on the road" again with bandmate and longtime friend Dave Peacock after receiving immediate treatment for his illness. However, the illness would subsequently force the two-piece to cancel a majority of their upcoming concert dates at Potters Bar, Norwich and in Milton Keynes.

Hodges' last stage performance was in support of Eric Clapton at the British Summertime show in London's Hyde Park back over the summer.
Since its inception in 1975, the "rockney" musicians have released 12 studio albums over their career. Chas & Dave's thirteenth and latest album, A Little Bit of Us — their first offering to feature brand-new material from the band — released back in April 2018.
