Malia Obama is living her best college life!
The 20-year-old Harvard University student, who recently began her second year at the Ivy League school, made her music video debut in New Dakotas' latest music video for their single "Walking on Air." The indie rock band, which is comprised of four members (Alasdair MacKenzie, Chris Haley, Scott Roberts, and Juan Carlos Fernandez del Castillo) who are seniors at Harvard, tasked the daughter of former President Barack Obama with lip syncing and playing the harmonica for the three-minute clip.
Malia makes her debut at about the 1:40 mark, dancing and lip-syncing the words to the song while wearing an oversized sweater, and a dark beanie. She makes her second and final appearance at about the 2:00 mark as she plays a pretend harmonica and rocks the eff out.
While the music video marks Malia's first dabble into music, it's not her first time working in showbiz. Back in 2014, she was a production assistant for Halle Berry's sci-fi drama Extant. She also interned for Weinstein Company in 2017.
Malia began her studies at Harvard, her parents' alma mater, in 2017 after taking a gap year to travel and intern. President Obama previously admitted to breaking down into tears after dropping his eldest daughter off to college. “I dropped off Malia at college, and I was saying to Joe and Jill [Biden] that it was a little bit like open-heart surgery, and I was proud that I did not cry in front of her," he said in a speech for the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children about a month after dropping Malia off. "But on the way back, the Secret Service was all looking straight ahead pretending they weren’t hearing me as I sniffled and blew my nose. It was rough.”
