Last night (September 29), Saturday Night Live kicked off its 44th season with explosive (albeit odd) performances by Kanye West and educations in acting by Adam Driver, but one of the episode's highlights came during the Weekend Update segment.
Co-anchor Colin Jost invited his fellow cast member Pete Davidson out to talk about his summer, and more specifically his engagement to Ariana Grande.
After making a joke about his fiancee's celebrity while he's "that guy from SNL that everyone thinks is in desperate need for more blood" the 24-year-old comedian turned to Colin and said "Do you remember when that whole city pretended that kid was Batman because he was, like, sick? That's what this feels like."
When asked if he likes all the attention he said "I hate it. It's awful." He then brought up receiving death threats. Pete then joked about how Ari is definitely the bread winner in their relationship before making a kind of cringey comment about switching her birth control with Tic Tacs to trap her.
He ended the segment by divulging he won't get royalties for his namesake song on Ariana's album Sweetener before making one final joke that if they, "God forbid," ever break up, "Pete Davidson" will be playing on the loud speakers in K-Mart, where he'll be working.
