Thom Yorke surprised fans on Wednesday (October 3) by releasing a brand new song called "Has Ended." The ethereal, eerie track will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Luca Guadagnino-directed remake of Suspiria

The song is the second offering from the two-disc album, following Yorke's "Susperium." The soundtrack is slated for an October 26 release via XL Records.

This project marks the Radiohead frontman's first time scoring a film. During a recent interview at the Venice Film Festival, he compared the experience to "making spells."

“There’s a way of repeating in music which can hypnotize, and I kept thinking to myself it was a form of making spells. So when I was working in my studio, I was making spells—and that sounds really stupid but that’s how I was thinking about it,” he said. “It was a sort of freedom I’d not had before: I’m not working in the format of a song or arrangement, I’m just exploring. I’m putting things out into my studio and seeing what my studio is bringing back.”

Yorke also recently announced the Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes U.S. tour with longtime producer Nigel Godrich and audiovisual collaborator Tarik Barri

The set is slated to be a live electronic performance that will feature songs from Yorke's two solo albums, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes and The Eraser, as well as Atoms for Peace material — his side project with Godrich.
