Chance the Rapper is giving back in a big big way!

The 25-year-old rapper is donating $1 million to help improve mental health services in his hometown of Chicago. Chance made the announcement during the second annual summit for his nonprofit organization, SocialWorks, on Thursday (October 4).

During the event, which was live streamed on Twitter, he explained the reasoning behind his donation, saying, "With the help of SocialWorks, we want to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed by you." Chance additionally detailed how the money will be allocated, explaining that six different mental wellness providers in Cook County, Illinois will receive $100,000.

SocialWorks also announced a new initiative called "My State of Mind," which will focus on improving mental health resources and guiding people to the correct services in the Cook County area. “We need a new space to get information on how they feel and where they can go,” he explained.

Chance didn't stop there. He also announced that he is continuing his New Chance enrichment fund for Chicago Public Schools for the second year. "This year, 20 more schools will get $100K," he said. "We will be upping the game in terms of equity, in terms of what is rightfully yours. Principals, teachers, we got your back."

Last year, Chance donated $1 million to Chicago Public School Foundation for arts and enrichment programming.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Chance will be performing at late rapper Mac Miller's tribute concert. Chance, Miguel, John Mayer, Travis Scott, SZA and more are set to take the stage at Los Angele's Greek Theatre on October 31st for what they're calling "A Celebration of Life." The concert will also launch Mac's foundation, the Mac Miller Circles Fund, which will provide resources and programming for arts education to youth in underserved communities.

As previously reported, the 26-year-old rapper was found dead in his home on September 7 after an apparent overdose.
