Minnesota TV reporter fired for wearing Trump hat at rally

James Bunner, a multimedia journalist for KTTC-TV in Rochester, Minnesota, was fired last week for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat during a Trump rally there.

KTTC News Director Noel Sederstrom said images of Bunner wearing the hat began appearing on Twitter. The station does not allow staff members to cover stories while wearing apparel from political campaigns, so he was fired Friday. 

Many on social media have applauded KTTC's decision, since news organizations are supposed to be impartial in covering political news. Others say the firing shows the hypocrisy of news organizations because they really aren't neutral.

Meanwhile, Bunner has been offered a job by the campaign of Minnesota Republican Secretary of State candidate John Howe. Tim Droogsma, campaign manager for the Howe campaign, said, however, that the campaign can't locate him.

"We haven't been able to make contact with him yet," Droogsma said. "We would like to hire him if we could get in touch with him."
