Grab your teacup and your kettle because Scooter Braun just served some major tea while discussing his work relationship with Ariana Grande.
The pop star's longtime manager got really candid about their past relationship when he revealed that Ariana once fired him, but rehired him after ditching her "sh*tty boyfriend."
Scooter detailed the experience, first recalling how he chose to stay quiet when after she gave him the boot. "Our company privately owns a bunch of other management companies... I watched this other manager get fired, and I saw him defend himself instantly and put out a lot of truths. And I watched the artist see those truths, not want to deal with it, and then forever hate that manager. And with Ariana, I could have said a lot of stuff, and in fact, my team wanted me to, because they were pissed. But I said, 'We’re not gonna say a word, and this is gonna come back around.'" he told Variety, acknowledging that Ariana once gave him the boot. "They were like, “Never take her back!,” but I just said, 'Let’s stay quiet and let our truth be our actions.'"
He continued: "And when sh*tty boyfriends leave (laughter), she starts to see the light on some stuff, and one day I got a phone call. She said “Can I see you tomorrow?” and I said, “No, I’m busy” (laughter) — I actually couldn’t, so I said “I could see you Thursday” or whatever and I went over there and we had a very honest conversation.
So who is this "sh*tty boyfriend" you ask? Well, as Us Weekly noted, the "no tears left to cry" singer and Scooter went their separate ways in February 2016 but reunited in September of that year. So, that would mean Ariana would have already broken up with Big Sean, who she split from in 2015, and would have not started dating Mac Miller, who she began dating in August 2016, leaving one person — Ricky Alvarez, who she broke up with in July 2016. (Sorry, Ricky)
As for how Scooter and Ariana's relationship was able to bounce back after their time apart, Scotter said, “It made me and her really tight, because now when we get into those fights and she’s coming at me, I just go, ‘Woah, do you want to go back to where we were?’ and then it kinda calms down....That relationship we had, from being fired to getting back together, really gave us the strength for what we never imagined would come that following year," he added, referencing the May 2017 attack that took place at Ariana's Manchester, England concert.
