Last week, Florence + The Machine wrapped up their North American tour with a final arena show in St Paul, Minnesota on October 20th, followed by a special, intimate show at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles. But that doesn't mean Florence Welch and her band are done performing.
On Tuesday (October 23), the mesmerizing folk group gave a chilling performance of the High as Hope cut "Patricia" on Late Late Show with James Corden. As always, Welch's voice was goosebump-inducing as she sang "Oh Patricia, you've always been my North Star." By the time she got to the refrain, declaring "It's such a wonderful thing to love," it was hard not to be hypnotized by her larger than life voice and presence.
Watch the entrancing performance below.
"Patricia" is a tribute to Patti Smith, a singer-songwriter who helped strengthen the New York City punk movement.
“When I was thinking about this period of time, where I was trying to figure out how to live a creative life but outside of the kind of epic highs and lows...,” Welch explained during a recent interview. “I was reading a lot of Patti Smith’s work and I was in this little bubble, quietly making my record and I would read her writing and she would bring so much reverence to even daily life.”
