Queen's legacy is cemented in thorough detail in the forthcoming book, Queen: Album By Album, which was written by heavy metal journalist Martin Popoff and sees several rock titans like Paul McCartney, Dee Snider, Dave Ellefson, and other Queen experts, sound off on all 15 of the band's studio albums, including their soundtrack for the 1980 film, Flash Gordon

"Formed in 1970, Queen went on to become one of the most popular—and most successful—rock bands of all time, even following the untimely death of beloved and magnetic frontman Freddie Mercury, and nearly 50 years after their formation, interest in the band has continued, evidenced by scores of reissues arena tours with surviving members, and coming this fall, a feature-film biopic," a press release stated. It's high praise for the rock staple, but couldn't be further from the truth with the forthcoming release of Bohemian Rhapsody, which hits theaters across the country on Friday.

In an advanced copy of the book sent to iHeartRadio, McCartney reflected on his early interest in the act, admitting that it was Andy Harris, his little second cousin, who convinced him to look into the band. "He was so keen on the band and I liked him so much, I thought, you know, there must be something here. So, I started listening to them and then became a fan myself — through Andy," he confessed in the section of the book, where the experts explore their fourth studio album, A Night At The Opera, which includes "Bohemian Rhapsody." "But, yeah, great music is basically what it's all to do with. Freddie was a great singer and songwriter and they were all great players and they made very good records. So their music, first of all, and then their showmanship second. But in the writing and the playing, that's where it all lives or dies, and that's what they were so good at."
