A 47-year-old man from San Francisco was arrested after he was filmed unboxing a pair of electric chainsaws while riding a BART train in the middle of the day. Jalina Bluford was on the train and filmed the man, identified as Patrick Bingman, as he started messing around with a red chainsaw. He then proceeded to unbox a second chainsaw while making disturbing comments to himself.
“He did say a couple of things. He said something about ‘I’m the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre.'” Then he said, ‘No, I’m the BART massacre.'” Bluford told KPIX 5.
Bingman never turned the chainsaws on, and many people in the video seem to pay no attention as he continued to play with the tools.
Police officers were waiting for him at the next stop and took Bingman into custody as he got off the train.
“Police received multiple calls and officers quickly positioned themselves to board the train at Lake Merritt when the man actually got off,” a BART official said. “There was no waiting to respond.”
He was charged with exhibiting a deadly weapon, shoplifting, and drug possession.
