Michael Ray shared with Cody Alan that he and Carly Pearce knew of each other but had limited communication until she bravely “She slid into the DMS…” These days, Carly Pearce is much braver with the message she is sending in her newly released single, “Closer to you.”
Carly says that the infectious mushy love song is 100% inspired by her current blue-eyed beau. The new music has a slightly different sound than what we have heard in the past, but nonetheless, it has hearts fluttering, toes tapping and comes with a surprise. Shockingly, the song wasn’t written by Carly.
Instead, this love story track was written by Hillary Lindsey, Gordie Sampson, and Troy Verges. Recognize Hillary Lindsey’s name? She has written some heavy hitters, like Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take The Wheel” and Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.”
Carly is aiming straight for hearts with this pop/country song. Sharing her heartstrings for this track with Rolling Stone Country she revealed, “This is my version of a love song. I am in a long-distance relationship, and I can’t get enough of this person. That for me, lyrically, is what attracted me to this song. You hear the dobro that you hear in all of my music and hear the nuances that make my voice special. Everybody can relate in some capacity to wanting to be with that person who makes you happy.”

Carly is currently working on a second LP that is expected to arrive in 2019. She’s been very careful to release significant details but has been hinting that there will be a special duet with an unidentified male artist. Not speculating, but included below is a bonus video of Carly and Michael performing together at the Grand Ole Opry.
