57 years after a Long Island man disappeared, his family claims they have discovered his bones in their basement. The family was able to crack the decades-old case after hiring a psychic and ghost hunters to search their home.
George Carroll went missing in 1961, leaving behind a wife and four children. His son, 57-year-old Mike Carroll, who was just nine-months-old when his father went missing, said that their mother, Dorothy, never really explained what happened to her husband.
In June, the Carroll family hired a team of paranormal investigators to look into his disappearance. After searching the home, they detected an "energy" in the house, according to Newsday. When they returned to the home the day before Halloween, they headed down to the basement, where a pile of bones was discovered.
“They were twisted in a knot, weird-looking,” Mike Carroll told the New York Post. “It was down and twisted in the dirt… not totally exposed, either.”
The bones have not been positively identified yet, a process which could take months, but the Carrolls believe they belong to their missing father.
“We feel if it is George Carroll, we can now give him a proper burial,” Steven Carroll said. “I think that is the bottom line here after all this time.”
