Ricky Martin & Sons Get Creative To Raise Money For Hurricane Maria Victims

Ricky Martin and his family are using their creativity to help those in Puerto Rico a year after Hurricane Maria struck.

In September 2017, the Category 5 storm devastated the island and became one of the deadliest natural disasters on record. A few months ago, on the anniversary of the disaster, Martin and his 10-year-old twin boys, Matteo and Valentino, designed and sold t-shirts for their initiative #Allin4PR in order to raise money for the communities and victims affected by the tragedy.

With hopes of aiding his homeland, the Puerto Rican musician called on the help of his children, who figured to take a creative, hands-on method to help restore the island. “This campaign has been so beautiful,” the "She Bangs" star told PEOPLE Wednesday (November 21). “It started with my kids — they wanted to do something to help. So they hand colored the flags which became the t-shirt design worn by artists and fans from all over the world.”

Since the tees launched in collaboration with Charity Stars, Matteo and Valentino's Puerto Rico flag drawing has become quite popular, with stars like Carrie Underwood, Will Smith and more sporting the illustration on social media.

The tees retail for $24.99. All proceeds will be distributed via the Ricky Martin Foundation to "continue to rebuild homes and support communities in Puerto Rico."

A few weeks ago my kids came to me and asked ‘Dad, what can WE do to help Puerto Rico?” So they each drew & colored the Puerto Rican flag, we put the flags on t-shirts, and a beautiful idea was born. Once we got the first shirt, my husband photographed me in it and our family was #Allin4PR. From our family to yours, we’re so grateful to each & every one of you who have purchased the shirt over the past few weeks, and to each & every artist and friend who have joined our cause! We've extended the campaign until November 2, so If you don't have yours yet go to charitystars.com/ricky or LINK IN BIO. Thank you, from our family and our entire isla del encanto #Allin4PR #RMF Hace pocas semanas mis hijos se me acercaron para decirme, ‘Papi, ¿Qué podemos hacer NOSOTROS para ayudar a Puerto Rico?
