Before Jack Anotoff started Bleachers, he was the singer of a band called Steel Train. With that group, the producer started a series called Terrible Thrills, which saw artists like Tegan and Sara and Scarlett Johansson covering his songs in 2010. In 2015, he released the second volume of his covers series with Bleachers, which included his work re-imagined by Sia, Carly Rae Jepsen, and more.
Now, Antonoff is gearing up to release Terrible Thrills Vol. 3, which sees songs from Bleachers' latest album, Gone Now, covered by more talents ladies, like Mitski, Julien Baker, Ani DeFranco, and Muna.
"terrible thrills vol 3 comes in the form of a 4 part record club. it will feature bleachers songs from gone now re-imagined by mitski, julien baker, ani difranco and muna as well as demos and new versions of the songs," a statement on the band's website reads. "the concept behind terrible thrills is to create a final version of an album at the end of its cycle. what that is will take different shapes for different times. this time around is half in the tradition of female artists remaking the songs and part new in re written lyrics and productions. this collection will only be officially released on vinyl and will only be sold this one time as a whole series. This limited edition vinyl will ship in four parts, with the first 7" shipping in early 2019. The remaining three records will ship monthly thereafter."
