A couple from Vermont is desperately trying to capture their pet peacock after it ran off with a pack of wild turkeys. The bird, named Pea, ran off six weeks ago and Rene and Brian Johnson have been unable to bring him home. They are worried that Pea will not survive the cold winter.

The Johnsons sought out help from the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department in a Facebook post that quickly went viral

"My peacock has run off with the turkeys. Do you have any suggestions on how to catch the little twerp?? I do not believe they can breed……concerned. I know where he is most days. Any information would be appreciated!"

You never know what the day will bring here at Vermont Fish & Wildlife. This was a request for help we got via email...

Rene told WCAX that she believes Pea ran off because he was lonely after his little brother died.

"When we lost his little brother, I think the turkeys were more like him than the chickens and he decided to take off with them," Rene explained.

The Johnsons said they know where Pea is living, but have been unable to coax him home. Rene said the property owner has been laying out treats for the majestic bird in an effort to catch him. They came close on Thanksgiving, and are still trying to bring Pea back home.
