New Captain Marvel Trailer Unveiled During Monday Night Football

Captain Marvel is here and she didn't come to play. 

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding its cast of characters with "Captain Marvel," starring Brie Larson, scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2019. 

The second trailer for Marvel's first female-led superhero film included some of the same footage fans saw in the first trailer (which dropped back in September), but the trailer that aired during Monday Night Football, has given fans a better idea about the fictional superhero being played by Larson. 

Larson has been training intently for the role, as evidenced by a story her co-star Sam Jackson, told Nerdist News. According to Jackson, Larson had been working so hard, she even challenged herself to push a Jeep up a hill. 

Making it even better? The star's reasoning for her extreme workout, which apparently began as a joke between Larson and her trainer, Jason Walsh: "Well if [Captain Marvel] can move planets, the least I could do is move a car," Larson said. "I’m trying to remember how long we had trained together for, maybe five or six months at that point? And I just showed up in the gym one day and he was like, ‘All right, let’s do it.’ And I pushed the car, yeah!"

Interesting to note, this movie will also mark Clark Gregg's return to the MCU as Agent Coulson. Last time we saw him in the MCU, he had been killed by Loki in The Avengers (2012). But since this is comic book lore, Coulson didn't stay dead for long (Tahiti is a magical place) and went on to live happily ever after (sorta) battling monsters-of-the-week with Daisy "Skye" Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) and other members of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team on ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."  

But back to Captain Marvel. The hype is real and the internet was feeling it last night. 

Captain Marvel arrives in theaters March 8th.
