The world is a little bit better today with the knowledge that vending machines can now dispense bacon.
Ohio State University is bringing home the bacon (definitely not bagels) for hungry students ahead of finals with a vending machine that dispenses bacon. The physical manifestation of what is surely many people's dreams is currently set up inside the university's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences' Animal Science lobby. The vending machine cooks and dispenses bacon strips and bacon bits for $1, with all the money going to the university's meat science program.
The machine was announced on Tuesday by the Ohio Pork Council and by Ohio State University's Meat Science Club.
The Bacon Vending Machine has arrived at Ohio State - College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences! Stop by the Animal Science lobby to buy bacon from Sugardale Foods, Hormel Foods and Smithfield Foodsthrough December 13! Don't forget to tag us in your photos and use our Snapchat filter. Happy finals season, Buckeyes! #ohbacon
The bacon and other products were donated by Smithfield, Hormel and Sugardale.
"The Bacon Vending Machine is a unique and fun way for the Ohio Pork Council to support Ohio State students and promote the pork industry at the same time," Ohio Pork Council's President-Elect Dave Shoup, told Fox 28 Columbus.
The vending machine has been a hit with students and professors on campus, with many lining up with crisp dollar bills to try it out.
Have you seen the new bacon vending machine? Dr. Graham Cochran, Associate Dean for Operations, braved the cold to grab an afternoon snack. The machine is located right outside our office in the Animal Sciences Building, all proceeds go towards the Meat Science Club! pic.twitter.com/0Kstm5apbx
