After hearing several uplifting tales of holiday generosity, Kid Rock shared the Christmas spirit by heading to a Nashville, Tennessee, Walmart near his home and paying off 350 layaway accounts.
The store manager confirmed Rock's act of kindness to local NBC affiliate WBIR on Saturday. It reportedly cost the front man around $81,000.
Rock gave the credit to comedian/actor/director Tyler Perry for giving him the idea.
"I followed your lead and paid of the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville," Rock wrote in a Tweet directed at Perry. "Merry Christmas and God Bless You!"
Perry reportedly paid off all layaways at two Atlanta, Georgia-area Walmarts in December 6 for something like $434,000.
@tylerperry Great idea! I followed your lead and paid off the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!

Perry said in a statement that he had hoped his gifts would remain anonymous, but since the secret got out he decided to confirm it and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
"I know it's hard times and a lot of people are struggling," Perry said in a video posted to Twitter. "I'm just really, really grateful to be able to be in a position to do this. So, God bless you. Go get your stuff!"
And whatever reservations Perry may have had about making his massive gift public, he can surely appreciate that he inspired someone else to do the same.
