Demi Lovato Shares New Photos After Defending Her Recovery

Demi Lovato is ending this year on a high note and that celebration involved time with her family and loves ones on Christmas (December 25) just days after defending her sobriety.

As a way to slowly transition back onto social media, the 26-year-old pop star shared photos and videos from her Christmas Eve and morning on Instagram Story. Sisters Dallas Lovato and Madison De La Garza, as well as her mom, Dianna De La Garza, and step-dad, Eddie De La Garza, were among those loves one who rejoiced in the festivity, which included cookie decorating and unwrapping gifts.

Last week, Lovato became sick of the rumor mill and shut down "sickening" reports about her recovery as a result of this summer's near-fatal overdose. "Don't believe what you read. People will literally make up stuff to sell a story. Sickening," Demi tweeted to her 57 million followers. "If I feel like the world needs to know something, I will tell them MYSELF. Otherwise, people stop writing about my recovery, because it’s no one’s business but mine. I am sober and grateful to be alive and taking care of ME."

Besides the overflow of tabloid headlines, Lovato's road to recovery seems to be going well. Her friend Sheila O'Neill recently shared a strip of photobooth shots of them during their stints in rehab. Even though she didn't share context behind the photos, O'Neill tagged the location as Sundance Mountain Resort, which is in Utah. "I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I've learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time," Lovato wrote on Instagram in early August. "It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet."
