Rihanna is grieving the loss of one of her biggest fans.
The 30-year-old singer posted a heartbreaking Instagram tribute to her longtime supporter and superfan Monia on Thursday (December 27), just two days after the German native lost her battle to cancer.
"Navy Angels! This Christmas, we lost a beautiful spirit who was such a pillar of strength to us!" Rih captioned a cute photo the two on Instagram. "Most of our friendship she’s spent in a hospital or doctor’s office! This picture was just a few months ago, she looked at me and said 'Rih the cancer is back' I’ll never forget the fear in her eyes this day! Still she pushed forward, fighting the fight everyday with the Navy behind her supporting her every step of the way! We are all heartbroken about this!!! You will never be forgotten! Love you my angel @moniasto fly in peace."
The "Lemon" singer later shared a second post, a video of her comforting Monia —who was battling her third bout of cancer — after she told her her cancer had returned back in June. "miss you already sis @moniasto💔😇 #NavyAngels," Rihanna captioned the video.
Earlier this month, Rihanna commented on an Instagram photo of Monia's, wishing her well and offering her support. "Sis we are all praying for you! Your strength and your ability to let the beauty in your spirit shine through, even in the midst of adversity, is tremendously inspiring!!" Rihanna wrote. "Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us! I imagine it’s quite a lonely one, hours on end in hospital walls, being scared to even fall asleep because you’re afraid u won’t wake up, feeling like nobody will ever understand that, the physical agony, the medication and all their side effects," she added. "I can’t begin to imagine what you feel, so I want you to know we are all here for you and I encourage the NAVY to rally around you during these times! Love you!"
Monia later shared a screenshot of Rih's comment to her Instagram, explaining how much the singer's support meant to her. "I haven’t posted in a while because there was so much going on.. so much pain, so many bad news, just too much. and right in the worst time, she‘s there for me. this made my day. thank you robyn, for being so real and supportive," Monia wrote. "And thanks to everyone else who is supportive in any way, every comment, every dm, every prayer - I appreciate it so much 🙏🏼."
