While the 78,126 fans who showed up to watch the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Boston Bruins during the 2019 Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium got to enjoy a great hockey game, they likely left the stadium hungry and thirsty. Before the start of the second period, many fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration because the stadium had run out of food and beer.
One fan shared a photo of a refrigerator that only had a few bottles of water left.
@NHL at one of the many food stands @NotreDame has where they have ran out of everything except water #WinterClassic #WorstWinterClassic @NHL please host at a university that is prepared for this amount of people

Other fans complained about waiting in long lines for pretzels and other snacks.
.@NHL y’all gotta do better at Winter Classic. Lines for food got you looking as unprepared as the @Marlins, 40 people deep for a pretzel? They don’t have trouble serving food here for football games.

The issues did not end with the game as the large number of fans in attendance created major traffic jams as people tried to head home.
Great game at the #winterclassic but @NotreDame food/drink in the stadium and traffic post-game is a big fail. #trafficfail Been sitting without moving for 62 minutes so far in Dorr North lot.

At the #WinterClassic at @NotreDame. They ran out of food, beer and don’t seem to know how to get cars out of a parking lot.

The NHL announced after the game that next year's Winter Classic will take place in Dallas, where hopefully officials have enough food and beer on hand for the large crowd.
