On Wednesday (January 2), the world lost a comedic legend in Bob Einstein. The writer and actor died at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer and was known for his failed stuntman character Super Dave Osbourne and his role as the surrogate in Arrested Development. However, his most beloved role may be as Larry David's all too loyal friend Marty Funkhouser in Curb Your Enthusiasm. After his passing, the internet buzzed with tributes and clips of his best lines. And Jonny Greenwood participated in the action.
The Radiohead multi-instrumentalist/producer took to Twitter to tell his own personal story about Einstein. "So sad to hear this," he wrote after hearing the news. "He was amazing in Curb: I was Marty Funkhouser on the last two Radiohead tours in tribute to his beautifully pitched performance. So subtle. And to think it was all improvised." He went on to share a photo of a "warm welcome" to "Mr. Funkhouser" from the Park Hyatt Chicago.
Greenwood's love for Funkhouser shouldn't come as a surprise to fans that follow him on social media. In 2013, he posted a picture of "an erotic birthday cake" as an homage to "Larry, Jeff and Funkhauser [sic]" that preceded "a curb marathon."
Check out Greenwood's hilarious posts below.
