Coast Guard Families Advised To Hold Garage Sales As Shutdown Drags On

Coast Guard families are being told they can hold a garage sale to help make ends meet during the partial government shutdown.  Baby-sitting or doing other odd jobs were also among the suggestions offered on a tip sheet published by the Coast Guard Support Program.  Unlike other military services, the Coast Guard receives funding from the Department of Homeland Security which is affected by the shutdown.  About 41,000 active duty Coast Guardsman have been working without pay since December 22nd.  Their next paycheck is due January 15th.
