Lil Uzi Vert is, at the very least, taking a break from making music.

The "New Patek" rapper shocked fans on Friday (January 11) when he announced that he's stepping away from the rap game. "I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supporters but I'm done with Music," he wrote on his Instagram Story. "I deleted everything. I wanna be normal ... I wanna wake up in 2013. You are free."

Fans were expecting Uzi to drop his sophomore studio album, Eternal Atake, sometime in 2019, especially after he teased the project back in December. During his homecoming Lil Uzi Vert & Friends show in Philadelphia, the 24-year-old rapper told the crowd that the highly-anticipated project was finally completed. While he didn't share its release date, he seemed to hint that it would drop in the coming weeks. However, the future of the album is now up in the air, given Uzi's recent announcement.

Uzi's record label, Atlantic Records, has yet to address his retirement announcement.

This is not the first time Uzi's taken to social media to vent about his music. He previously admitted that he regretted signing a record deal, saying in a video shared on Instagram: "Y'all talking about 'drop something.' I'm trying to drop something... All I can do is make music and sit back and wait for y'all's response... You think I don't want to drop music? You gotta understand, when people don't love you they will hold your life if you sign..." he trailed off. "[They'll] hold that sh*t against you...How the f**k I even sign this sh*t as a deal? Motherf**kers set [me] up."
