An armed motorist helped defuse a dangerous situation that unfolded on a Massachusetts highway. The incident began following a minor accident between Mark Fitzgerald and Richard Kamrowski on I-90.
As the two men were exchanging insurance information, they started to argue and the situation quickly escalated. Fitzgerald attempted to drive away but the 65-year-old Kamrowski jumped onto the hood of Fitzgerald's SUV, hanging on for his life as Fitzgerald sped down the busy highway, hitting a speed of 70 miles-per-hour.
“I thought he was going to run over me and, I don’t know, I don’t think he stopped, he just kept going fast then slow, fast then slow trying to get me to slide off, and I wasn’t getting off the car,” Kamrowski explained to Boston 25 News.
Luckily, after about two to three miles, another motorist decided to intervene. The unidentified driver pulled out his gun and ordered Fitzgerald to stop his vehicle.
When the police arrived, both men were arrested. Fitzgerald was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over age 60, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, while Kamrowski was charged with disorderly conduct and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
