Sam Smith and Normani try to mend their broken hearts in their new music video.
Last night celebrated the midnight premiere for the pop stars' long-awaited visual for their collaboration "Dancing With a Stranger," a project with a compelling concept that pairs well with the moody duet itself. In the visualization, the British singer-songwriter and former Fifth Harmony songbird find closure through the art of dance but are nevertheless haunted by the ghosts of lovers past.
The heartbreaking slow jam, co-written by Stargate and Jimmy Napes , first premiered on January 11. Its creation came out while Smith was supporting his "Thrill of it All Tour" during Summer 2018, during which time he linked up with the "Love Lies" singer to record vocals for the soulful tune.
In a press release for the number, the 26-year-old revealed it was by pure luck that he and Normani recorded "Dancing With a Stranger," as the R&B star happened to be in the studio next door while he was working on the single.
"For me, it bottles everything I was feeling whilst juggling my personal life and touring," he said in a statement at the time . "It is also such a beautiful moment for me as I’m a huge, huge fan of Normani and everything she is. I’m so excited to watch her light shine. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this song as much as I do."
Albeit unconfirmed, the track is expected to appear on Smith's upcoming third studio album.
