17 years after the release of Crossroads, Britney Spears will be making a secret cameo in the upcoming horror film, Corporate Animals, as per director Patrick Brice's recent reveal during a Los Angeles Times panel at Sundance Film Festival.
During the Monday (January 28) discussion, Brice detailed the 37-year-old pop titan's cameo in the film, which was kept under wraps even from one of the film's co-stars Jessica Williams. "The ghost of Britney Spears is in our movie,” Brice said, to which Williams responded: "Wait, what is this?" Afterward, Brice explained that the superstar will be heard, if not seen, in the movie as a ghost. "One of our characters — Calum Worthy’s character, Aidan — is obsessed with Britney Spears, and there's a runner of him as he’s going crazy thinking that Britney is speaking to him from the walls," he explained. "Through a series of connections we were able to get 10 minutes of [Britney’s] time to record this, which was so awesome."
Corporate Animals also stars Demi Moore, who plays a megalomaniacal CEO who leads her staff on an unfortunate team-building exercise in a New Mexico cave. "As [Calum Worthy’s character, Aidan] is also getting gangrene, so he is starting to hallucinate," Moore explained, before Williams admitted she was "happy to have that energy in the film." While Corporate Animals premiered on Tuesday, a theatrical release for the film has not yet been scheduled.
