Meghan Markle's due date is fast approaching and details about her delivery plan are starting to emerge. According to Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair's royal correspondent, Meghan and Prince Harry are opting for "a different kind of royal arrival" by seeking the aid of doulas, acupuncturists, and learning hypno-birthing techniques.
“Meg wants a natural birth if she can have one. Her mother is very into anything that is holistic and natural, and having been brought up with yoga and mindfulness, it’s all very much part of Meghan’s birth plan,” a source told Nicholl. In order to help ensure that she's able to have a natural birth, Meghan is learning hypno-birthing, which includes "special breathing, relaxation, visualization, meditative practice, attention to nutrition and positive body toning." The goal of hyno-birthing is to help manage pain during labor.
Meghan has also taken up a regular acupuncture regimen as she prepares to welcome her first child. The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly working with acupuncturist Ross Barr. “Meghan has been having regular acupuncture sessions to help her unwind and relax. It’s brilliant for the blood circulation and boosting blood flow to the uterus. She plans to use acupuncture right up to her due date,” a source revealed.
Reports that Meghan and Harry have hired a doula also made waves recently. If the reports prove to be true, the parents-to-be will be the first royals in centuries to use a doula during childbirth, according toThe Sun. A doula is a birthing assistant that helps expectant mothers in the months leading up to the birth, as well as during the delivery. The Sun reports the Meghan and Harry are working with Lauren Mishcon, a North London-based doula, though she has declined to confirm the rumors.
Meghan and Harry's first child is expected to arrive sometime in late April or early May.
