A Florida man was taken into custody after police say he tried to run over his son with his pickup truck because the young child refused to take a bath. The boy told authorities that he ran away after his father, Joseph Riley, threatened to whip him with a belt for misbehaving. Neighbors called the police when they saw Riley driving his truck down the street and accelerating toward his son.

The boy managed to run into a neighbor's house, where he stayed until the police showed up. When officers arrived, Riley was reportedly intoxicated and could barely stand. He refused to cooperate with them and lunged toward the deputies.

Riley was arrested and charged with domestic violence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
