The head of the Virgin Group says he may be about to take off into suborbital space as early as this summer. The Albuquerque Journal reported Friday that Richard Branson says he would like to have things ready so he can travel to the edge of space on July 20. The date is significant since it is the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Once testing of the VSS Unity spacecraft is done, Virgin Galactic has plans to offer commercial manned suborbital flights from its Spaceport America launch site southeast of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
