SNL takes on Michael Cohen's hearing in front of the House Oversight and Reform Committee

This week in news has had no shortage of surreal stories for 'SNL' to parody, but none seemed so ripe for comedy as Michael Cohen's hearing in front of Congress this week. The president's former lawyer took the stand on Wednesday to testify about his time working for the president, and the variety show used it for their cold open.

Kenan Thompson as Rep. Elijah Cummings kicked the sketch off with a request for people to remain professional and avoid sounding like a live studio audience for "Married... With Children."

"Alright, now for any other president this hearing would be the most damning and humiliating day of their lives," Thompson's Cummings began. "But for Trump, it's just Wednesday."

Ben Stiller took the stage to play Cohen, who opened the hearing reading a prepared statement, much like the real Cohen did on Wednesday - well, not exactly like Cohen. The subtext of having a man testifying in front of Congress after just being convicted for lying to Congress was on full display:

"Thank you for inviting me here today to correct the record under oath," said Stiller's Cohen. "Of course, the first time I testified was also under oath, but this time I, like, really mean it."

'SNL' alum Bill Hader joined the circus as a very agitated Rep. Jim Jordan, who was asking (shouting) questions at Stiller's Cohen.

"Good afternoon to you, you lying piece of human trash!" Hader's Jordan screamed. "I'm so angry I couldn't even wear a jacket today!"
