Kanye West, Kid Cudi & Ty Dolla $ign Sued Over 'Kids See Ghosts' Track

Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign and Kid Cudi have been hit with a lawsuit.

According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the trio is being sued for Cudi and Ye's 2018 track "Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt. 2)," which is on their joint Kids See Ghosts album. Veteran actor and performer Ronald Oslin Bobb-Semple claims his vocals from a track he recorded —"The Spirit of Marcus Garvey (Garvey speaks to an all-Black audience)" — in 2002 were used on "Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt. 2)" without his permission.

He alleges that Kanye and Cudi took his work and "exploited the actual voice, words and performance of Bobb-Semple, without authorization." Ronald is referring to the beginning of the track which starts with a speech by Marcus Gavey.

Ronald claims it is his "voice and authorship" that is heard in the introductory words of "Freeee" reciting Garvey's speech. He added that he never authorized Cudi, Ye, or Ty Dolla, who is featured on the song, to use the recording, nor was he given payment for it's inclusion in the song.

In addition to suing the three rappers, Ronald is also suing Def Jam and Universal Music.

He is suing for unspecified damages and an injunction against them from continuing to profit off his work, The Blast reports.
