It hasn't even been a year since Yungblud released his debut album 21st Century Liability, but the alt-rocker is already hard at work on new music. In fact, during a recent chat with NME he said he's "nearly ready" to drop new songs because he "never wanted to wait around" for the next album. “I admire hip-hop artists because they drop so much music," he explained. "Because today we consume so much information so quickly; I don’t want to be waiting two years to put another record out.”
When asked about how the new project differs from its predecessor, the 20-year-old explained: “The first album I had 19 years of my life to absorb all this information and put out what I thought – it was all about me. And the more and more the album got digested, the less and less it became about me – the more and more it became about us.”
As such, the new songs were inspired by his fans' experiences. “A lot of the new material’s about the stories I’ve heard from them, the things that they have gone through," he divulged. “I’m excited to release it, I can’t wait. Because again, it’s like me – it’s just nuts. Five different genres in two minutes.”
Though describing the sound of his new music as "Still very British," the English rocker says it will include hip-hop elements and Britpop. There's also going to be a gospel track on the new record. “I love music [and] I love taking influence from all different walks of life,” he said. “And why not? If I love it, I’ll put it out.”
Yungblud is gearing up to embark on a lengthy North American tour that will see him traverse the country from May through July. Check out a full list of dates here.
