Laverne Cox, Iggy Azalea and other LGBTQ+ community members/allies came together on Sunday (March 31) to commemorate International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day dedicated to the millions of transgender men and women around the world and the struggles that they face.
While social media lit up with messages in honor of the milestone occasion, with many figures like Hillary Clinton, Emma Watson and Alyssa Milano celebrating their proud stance in supporting the communities, International Transgender Day of Visibility was also a popular topic over at the HRC Los Angeles Dinner. "I am here to support the trans and gender-nonconforming community, and I just want to say God bless you and keep on with your bravery and your voices and your advocacy," actress Marcia Gay Harden said at the event on Saturday, per The Advocate. These should be hard stats to swallow for everyone, because they show how badly we are letting the trans community down as a society.
I’m sorry & I want to do better for you.
You deserve much more than this. #TransDayOfVisibility pic.twitter.com/J5HMjFSxyU
To all my trans and non-binary friends! I am PROUDLY right by your side ALWAYS. So much love today and every day. #TransDayOfVisibility
