Mally Mall was detained after the producer's San Fernando Valley home was raided on Wednesday (April 3) in connection to a double-barreled investigation for human trafficking and trafficking of exotic animals, TMZ reports.

A SWAT team reportedly surrounded the Love and Hip Hop star's home before sunrise and moved in shortly after to serve a search warrant. Sources told the gossip site Mally was home at the time of the raid, which included more than eight patrol cars, at least one armored van, and a ton of police officers.

Law enforcement officers told TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery/Homicide division, in conjunction with California Fish & Wildlife, served the search warrant. Mally was detained while officers searched for a number of exotic animals including, a Cotton-top Tamarin monkey, a Serval cat, and a spider monkey, that were supposedly on his property.

California Fish & Wildlife said their investigation began eight-to-nine months ago when they started getting tips about photos of Mally with the spider monkey. Back in January 2018, Mally posted a video of Swae Lee playing with the monkey.

As for the human trafficking charge, there were reportedly allegations in Nevada he was involved in an escort service.

Following his home raid, Mally told TMZ he was never taken into police custody. The producer said he was detained at his home while police searched the property, but they ultimately released him. His attorney, Steve Sadow, also called the search warrant for exotic animal possession and human trafficking bogus. "If they had real evidence they would have arrested him. They don't have evidence. It's bogus. Period," he said.
