Metallica front man James Hetfield's dramatic acting debut in the Ted Bundy thriller Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile is coming to Netflix next month.

Netflix has just released a new trailer for the film, which will become available on the streaming platform on May 3.

You can watch the trailer above.

Hetfield plays Utah highway patrolman Bob Hayward who arrested Bundy in 1975, following a traffic stop in which Hayward discovered burglary tools in Bundy's vehicle.

The film was directed by Academy Award-nominated director Joe Berlinger, who knows Hetfield from when he directed the 2004 documentary, Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster.

Berlinger says he was "thrilled" when Hetfield agreed to his pitch to do the movie.

Extremely Wicked stars Zac Efron as Bundy and Lily Collins as Bundy's longtime girlfriend Liz Kendall. It explores Bundy's notorious career as a serial killer through the lens of his criminal trial and his relationship with Kendall, who was unaware of Bundy's crimes.

It also features actors Jim Parsons, Haley Joel Osment and John Malkovich.
