Kanye West is, in fact, performing his Sunday Service at Coachella Music Festival and here's what you need to know:
It will be held on Easter Sunday, April 21, at 9 a.m. inside the Coachella campground — not on the main festival grounds — on a hillside at a location they're calling "The Mountain." While the festival area won't open until 1 p.m., shuttles will run early enough to transport fans who want to see the show.
All Weekend 2 Coachella ticket holders will have access to Ye's special Sunday Service performance, and if you didn't get your ticket earlier this year, Coachella is releasing a limited number of weekend 2 passes on Friday, April 5 at 3 p.m PST so that "some hardcore fans can get in."
Last, but not least, a few lucky fans will have a chance to receive "friends and family tickets" that will most likely give them a better view of the service.
As previously reported, on Sunday (March 31), the 41-year-old rapper, who backed out of headlining this year's music festival earlier this year, announced that he's bringing his weekly Sunday Service, which features him and a host of other musicians performing both gospel and pop culture bangers, to Coachella.
Festival co-founder Paul Tollett explained Ye's last-minute addition in an interview with Billboard on Wednesday (April 3), saying it was a one-of-a-kind music experience he could not refuse. "We said of course, instantly," he recalled of his response when Kanye's team asked if he could be added to the line-up recently.
"It's challenging for us because we've never done this before," Paul added, noting that the performance location and production has proved challenging. "We've got some challenges production-wise and we've got a team on it right now to try and do something really special. We feel this is going to be a really big moment of the show."
