A photographer from North Carolina captured incredible aerial photographs of a pollen cloud that covered Durham in a greenish haze before a thunderstorm.

Pollen counts in the state hit a six-year high before the storms, and allergy sufferers were hoping the rains would wash away the pollen and give them a reprieve from their symptoms.

Jeremy Gilchrist shared before and after pictures of the cloud on Facebook. As the thunderstorms moved into the area, the high winds lifted the pollen into the sky and carried it along the storm front.

While the storms did wash away some of the pollen, Fox 46 is reporting that the pollen counts will remain in the medium to high range throughout the weekend.
