The five-year-old boy who was thrown off of a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota is making progress in his recovery. The boy's family issued a statement saying that he is no longer in critical condition and they hope that he can be released from the hospital in June.
"All praise, glory, and honor to Jesus! He saved our son's life and is healing him in the most miraculous ways. We are so elated to let you know that our son is now alert and conscious and is no longer in critical condition!" the family said.
The boy still requires a few more surgeries before he can be sent home and will have to undergo extensive rehabilitation.
Authorities have charged 24-year-old Emmanuel Aranda with first-degree murder for the unprovoked attack which occurred on April 12.
A GoFundMe page was created to help cover the family's medical bills and has raised just under one million dollars. The family thanked all the people who donated for their "love and generosity."
"We want to personally thank each and every one of you for your love, prayers and support. We are astounded and so blessed by the over 28,000 individuals and families, from literally around the world, that have donated to our gofundme page," the family wrote. "Your love and generosity overwhelms and means so much to us! We have no idea where we would be without you - God and your prayers have sustained us."
