Muse recently wrapped up the North American leg of their Simulation Theory tour, and during some downtime singer Matt Bellamy and drummer Dominic Howard sat down to discuss the recording process for one of the album's tracks, "Blockades." During the brief video clip, Bellamy divulges that the song is one of the most "fractured" on the record.

"[‘Blockades’] and ‘Something Human’ were the two most, let’s say, fractured tunes," he revealed. "Most of the other tunes were recorded in the space of a few days or a week or whatever to get the track done. But those two tracks were sporadic. [‘Blockades’] had so many phases."

That's not the only thing that sets the song apart from others on Simulation Theory. Bellamy also believes it sounds most like a throwback Muse track. "That song does feel to me — the chorus anyway — like our early music," he said. "It’s the very traditional sound that we had back then with the kind of distorted guitar on one side and Chris [Wolstenholme]'s insane and distorted bass on the other side, left and right…that was probably a bit of a throwback style-wise, I’d say."
