A Florida man was arrested for driving under the influence after he crashed his lawnmower into a parked police car. A Haines City deputy was inside a business when he heard a loud crash outside. When he went out to investigate, he noticed minor damage to his cruiser's plastic bumper and saw a man, identified as 68-year-old Gary Wayne Anderson, sitting on a lawnmower with a trailer attached to it.

Anderson admitted to crashing into the police car but pointed out there was no damage to it. He failed a field sobriety test and was acting belligerent, accusing the officer of poisoning him while yelling racial slurs at him. Anderson was taken to the police station where he was booked on charges of driving under the influence. When Anderson finally agreed to take a Breathalyzer test, he had a BAC of .241, more than three times the legal limit. He also had cocaine in his system.

Anderson has two previous drunk driving convictions, and his driver's license has been suspended since 1978.

"I'm proud of the professional demeanor our officers showed when dealing with this heavily-intoxicated, belligerent offender," Haines City Police Chief Jim Elensky said. "It's never a good idea to get behind the wheel drunk, even if that wheel is to a Craftsman, Massey Ferguson or John Deere."
