A scene straight out of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation came to life this weekend when a New Haven, Indiana man narrowly escaped serious, or even fatal injury after his 1989 Ford Mustang became trapped underneath a moving semi-truck trailer and was dragged down an Indiana highway.
According to a statement issued by Indiana State Police, Ryan Lawson, 40, was driving northbound on US 69 in Huntington County Sunday afternoon when he suddenly lost control of his Mustang and crashed into the semi-truck.
Unfortunately for Lawson, the driver of the semi-truck had no idea someone had just crashed into him and traveled for another half-mile with the Mustang "wedged under his trailer."
Once the truck finally came to a halt, Lawson was able to get out of the car by himself and refused medical treatment from paramedics who responded to the scene. The truck driver was also uninjured in the incident.
A preliminary investigation by state troopers point to a mechanical failure on the part of the Mustang as the cause for the accident.
