Police in Alabama have given the all-clear after they captured a suspect who allegedly killed a police officer and wounded two others who responded to a domestic disturbance call in Auburn, Alabama.

Grady Wayne Wilkes, 29, was arrested by police early Monday morning according to a tweet from Auburn University's Department of Campus Safety & Security.

"Police report the suspect in the off-campus shooting is in custody," Campus Safety tweeted on Monday morning. "ALL CLEAR."

Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call late Sunday night at a mobile home park about five miles west of the College of Veterinary Medicine when Wilkes allegedly opened fire. The suspect was wearing camouflage body armor and a helmet, authorities said.

"This is probably the worst day of my time here and words cannot express the loss for this family, and our family, and this community," Auburn Chief of Police Paul Register told reporters Monday.

Two other officers were shot and wounded in the exchange, but both are expected to recover.

The officer that was killed has not yet been identified by authorities.
